In 2025 we saw interesting developments in technology, starting with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, IoT and Hyper-automation, and these trends will only advance and evolve and become a foundational layer for any organisation in 2026.
But technology alone is not a strategy. What happens when:
- It fails to deliver the specific outcomes the business requires?
- Our people don’t adopt or trust it?
- Implementation takes so long that value is delayed, and learning is lost?
True transformation is not about the tools and technologies, it is about how we use and realise value with them. As we look ahead, here are three principles every leader should embed in their approach:
- Anchor to Vision and Outcomes, Not technology features.
Start with a clear picture of the future business state. What tangible outcomes like increased revenue, reduced risk, or faster time-to-value must this technology enable to get us there? Let these outcomes be the non-negotiable criteria for every investment and operational decision. - Start with People, Technology Follows.
Transformation is a human process. Begin by going to your teams: “What works well?, What frustrates you?, What would you change?”. Co-create the solution with them. When people shape the tool, adoption follows naturally. Never start with a technology and look for a problem. - Think Big, Act Small, Learn Fast.
Resist the “big bang”. Identify 2-3 small, high-impact and valuable use cases that can be delivered in 4-8 weeks. Demonstrate, gather feedback, iterate, and learn. This agile approach reduces time-to-value, manages risk, and builds momentum. Each small win becomes a building block for the next.
Remember: Change is not a one-off event. It’s a constant journey that begins on day one.
Real transformation happens when we shift behaviours, not when we implement a new technology or process. That is how we lead organisations to achieve the lasting results they need.
